FITLINE HEALTH ASSESSMENT

As world renowned holistic health practitioner Paul Chek likes to say...’If you’re not assessing, you’re guessing.’

It’s for this reason that we have developed a comprehensive health assessment to take the guesswork out of putting your exercise program together.

Our assessment is designed to address common risk factors prevalent in today’s world and to give your coach all the information required to formulate a unique and specific program designed for your needs.
In order to gather such information, we must take a holistic look at the body’s functions. Our in-depth health assessment takes into consideration the following…

BLOOD TESTING
The modern diet has far removed itself from that of our ancestors. With a heavy focus on refined carbohydrates and low fat diets, diabetes is affecting Australians today in epidemic proportions.
Our blood glucose test will identify if you are suffering from hyperglycaemia (high blood glucose) or, in some instances, hypoglycaemia (low blood glucose). Our coaches will then provide you with nutrition and lifestyle advice to help prevent the onset of type 2 diabetes and stabilise your blood sugar levels if these problems arise.

Contrary to popular belief, cholesterol is not the enemy. In fact, good cholesterol (HDL) is vital for many of the body’s important functions. However, due to trans fats becoming prevalent in today’s ‘fast food’ style diet, we must assess your level of ‘bad’ fats (LDL) in the blood.

Once again, your health coach will be on hand to guide you through the dietary and lifestyle steps required to lower ‘bad’ cholesterol if necessary.

POSTURAL ASSESSMENT
Due to the deskbound and sedentary lifestyle of most people today, postural alignment issues are becoming increasingly common. If not resolved, these issues can develop into compensation patterns that, in turn, lead to pain or injury.

Our range of motion and postural assessments are designed to identify your muscular and/or structual imbalances and provide you with corrective strategies for overcoming them. Some of these may include strengthening, stretching or treatment by a complimentary health professional. We have Osteopaths and Myotherapists on hand for referral if any glaring postural deficiencies and or pain are present.

PHYSIOLOGICAL LOAD
Exercise should be a positive and invigorating experience. But for some the experience can be extremely arduous due to certain factors that haven’t been addressed. One thing that your ‘average personal trainer’ does not assess is your ‘physiological load’. Our coaches use a unique system to assess your stress levels, sleep patterns, digestive health, eating habits and detoxification system (amongst others) to ensure that you are reaping all the rewards from your hard work in the gym.

The best exercise program in the world will fail if these factors are not addressed first!

Your coach will guide you through coping mechanisms and lifestyle protocols to help you overcome such hurdles. The result is that your exercise program becomes an extremely positive ‘stress’ on your body rather than a painfully negative one.

CARDIOVASCULAR HEALTH
To screen for cardiac risk, we conduct a blood pressure test. High blood pressure does not have to be treated by drugs! Lifestyle considerations and dietary changes can have a massive impact. These will be discussed with your health coach should the need arise.
You will also go through a VO2 sub maximal test to ascertain your aerobic fitness levels.

With coronary heart disease killing Australians in huge numbers, it is also imperative that you are properly screened for cardiac risk before starting your exercise program.

BODY COMPOSITION
Let’s face it, we all want to look good naked! And to get to the real cause of your body fat issues, we focus on site-specific fat distribution, not overall body fat. That’s because where your body stores its fat is directly related to your hormonal profile. What that means for you is...balance your hormones and you can finally lose those unwanted kilos!

COACHING
We realise it’s when you are not with us that you need the most support. All our staff are qualified as coaches, which differentiates them from the ‘run-of-the-mill personal trainers’ you find in most gyms.

We have a unique coaching and goal setting system in place to help you make behavioural changes and good habits for long-lasting success with your program. It is compliance to these principles that will get results – not relying solely on your contact time with your coach. After all there are 168 hours in a week where things can go wrong!

During your journey with Fitline, you will be assessed a minimum of every 12 weeks. This will not only allow you to maintain momentum with your training and constantly re-establish new goals, but will also create accountability on behalf of your health coach.

We have worked hard to create a unique holistic network of in-house health professionals who are fully equipped to meet your needs should any glaring ‘red flags’ appear in your health assessment. We also have an alliance with pathology labs and medical practitioners, should the need arise.
